I installed El Capitan and since then my iMac won't start up - it hangs at the grey screen with Apple logo and loading bar. I have literally tried and researched everything;

Oct 06, 2015 For your information, in the past, combo updates have been issued starting with the OS X 10.X.2 release, which might occur months after the original release. Anyway, I suggest 'waiting for the combo update' is not the appropriate solution for you. Instead, you could try a clean install of OS X El Capitan.
Unplugged and held in the power button
Tried to start up in Safe mode - it won't
Tried the startup manager (Option key at startup)
Tried OS X Recovery mode (Cmd + R at start up)
Tried Cmd, option, P and R
Removed my extra ram and replaced it...
I know there is nothing wrong with my hardware as I did run the First Aid test and no errors were found - discs work perfectly. My thought is that it should be the OS that causes this as I had no errors beforehand.
I have read here that if I install the combo update, this might solve my issue. My question is: when will it be released?

I have made an appointment at my local Apple store but before then I want to try and solve this myself (I only have backups of my most important files, so if I can avoid erasing my disc, this would be awesome).
